Day 5

Friday, October 31st, 2008

A balsam and cedar-scented candle is a fresh and tangy fragrance just right for hours spent indoors.  It reminds me of one of my favorite summer vacation spots in the Sierra Nevadas – ahhhhhh.

Intermission from Winter Moaning – Issue 5

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Ohioans, you need to vote yes on Issue 5 to end predatory payday lending (nearly 400%!) in our state!  Here’s a link to John’s blog to give you a smattering more information.

Don’t forget to vote about this on Tuesday (Nov 4), even if you vote on nothing else.  This industry preys on the impoverished in Ohio, and there are so many of these places in our beloved Springfield.  Let’s bring a little bit of justice to our people.

Day 4

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Watch an Agatha Christie mystery movie, drink hot tea, and eat pumpkin pancakes all while staying in bed in the morning.

Just in case you think I’m clinically depressed, I’ll put you at ease. I’m not depressed, just sick.

Day 3

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Birthday Festivities! Christian is 15 today and has requested gnocchi al pesto, cheesy mashed potatoes, and broccoli for dinner – quite a combination. However, it is comfort food at its best and will be topped off with a dark chocolate cake with chocolate ganache. Mmmmmmm… dessert…

Day 2

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Creamy squash soup and a hot bath.

Dealing With Winter

Monday, October 27th, 2008

I’ve decided that in the interest of surviving the winter, I will post as often as I can (perhaps daily) my best ideas for surviving a long winter. Here’s hoping that it will be helpful.

Day 1:

A pot of homemade chicken noodle soup and a batch of whole wheat honey biscuits – mmmmm.
