Holiday feast

Filed under: Non-Descript Miscellaneousness, Stoopit! — JMo @ 10:48 am

The ever-innovative Jones Soda company developed a series of Holiday Feast Flavored sodas: Turkey with Gravy, Dinner Rolls, Peas, Sweet Potatoes, and Antacid. They come in a gift package.

In the videos below my brother Pete and my son Ian perform a complete taste test of all five flavors.

A bit of video

This is another clip from our recent Irish gig, but this time a video.

The set starts with Razor Blade and a Fry Pan, which is a Kentucky blues-ish thing. When Micah gets going on the bodhran, that is an Irish reel called Tommy Peoples’. When the banjo comes back in we switch to Drowsy Maggie. This was great fun because people were jumping up to dance spontaneously. Notice our weird self-deconstructing conclusion to the piece.

By the way, the sound starts about six seconds in. Do not adjust your television.

Another Demerits clip

This is just a short bit from the middle of a set, from our gig last weekend. I really thought the band was together at this point, and you can hear the inner parts done by the flute and second fiddle.  Also the pipes have a nice wildness to them. This is a standard Irish tune called The Morning Dew.

Return of The Demerits

The Demerits are now reformed (organizationally but not theologically or socially or ethically). Above, a photo of some action from Friday night. I am very proud of the group. From left to right: Ben Kibbe on guitar, Heather Hennessey and Sara Craig on fiddles, me on banjo (yeehaw), Micah Martin on whistle, and Linda Mortensen on flute.

Though Irish tunes remain our meat and potatoes, in this clip we are doing American fiddle tunes: The Chicken Reel, Kentucky Mandolin, and Cripple Creek.

Palindromes are a cry for help…

Like so many palindromes, this one does not make sense without a picture.  Once a picture is added, it still does not make sense.

The man in the cap is hoping that the hesitant and disapproving lady will go to the rescue of the innocent and hapless pig.  She appears unwilling to render assistance.  What she could do, and why the man can’t help, is unclear.  Sarah is entirely caught up in the sheer joy of using her tin robots to taunt the pig to the point of weeping.

Next in the Series

Here we have a farmer guy who believes that his ability to eat mulch should impress his wife and son. They, for their part, suspend judgement, Elba’s insincere compliment notwithstanding.
